California is Allowing Gay Marriages-updated

"California's top court overturns gay marriage banThursday, May 15, 2008 3:31 PM EDTThe Associated PressBy LISA LEFF
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — In a monumental victory for the gay rights movement, the California Supreme Court overturned a voter-approved ban on gay marriage Thursday in a ruling that would allow same-sex couples in the nation's biggest state to tie the knot."http://www.adelphia.net/news/read.php?ps=1018&id=14625494&_LT=HOME_LARSDCCLM_UNEWS

What in the heck? Wasnt this country founded UNDER God? Would God approve of this? How could this happen? Its sad, sending the wrong message and I am offended to live in this state at the moment. ****Civil unions, FINE, but marriage?***** I have so many feelings about this. What do you think?
This is one of my trials in life so I believe that people CAN overcome this should they choose to. I have gotton many letters and upset comments about this, but for those who regularly read their bible, you know this is not acceptable to Heavenly Father. For what its worth, I have gay friends and family. I love them, but fear for their eternal standing. That isnt for me to worry about though, its for them. In any case, I think this ruling will make it harder for any people in this trial to overcome it as its just one more way to make that lifestyle easier and more accepted. Satan is working hard on this country.

Ok...honestly....I am so happy for this ruling. There is more to this ruling though....this allows gays the opportunity to make decisions for their loved one while in the hospital, to recieve death benefits, group insurance, spouce abuse programs, terminal care documents, testimony immunity laws, applications for absentee ballots, state and municipal tax laws...I mean there are just to many to name. I will be honest, I do not know much about the bible, and I do not go to church my self...I am a bit conflicted in that department. A HUGE reason I do not go to church anymore is this very issue. I WANT to believe in God, but how can I when I truly believe in my heart that there is nothing wrong with being gay? My Uncle is gay and has been in a commited relationship for 24 years. Why should he not be allowed any of those things that I mentioned above just because he loves a man? Yes, this country was founded UNDER God, but also, we were founded with a seperation of church and state. (ahhh...okay...I've said my piece....hopefully we can agree to disagree?!)

To be honest, I'm happy this ruling came out the way it did. I believe in equal rights for everyone, including those who were born homosexual, as I know it's something people have from birth. Then again, I don't take the bible literally, as a day could be millions of years and not the 24-hour days we know of today.

If anything is damaging to the family as a whole, it's heterosexuality and divorce. The gay couples I know are far more committed to each other than most straight couples, so I think they'd be less likely to divorce. Sorry you've got your garmies in a knot, but that's life.

Adrienne, Well there were nicer ways to state your disgust with my blog lol. oh well, cant please everyone. being born "gay" is simply a trial in this life, same as someone being born with downs syndrome or something else, you learn to deal with it and work hard to overcome. I have and have been blessed beyond belief after overcoming it. Its like every other hurdle in life.....if you were depressed, I guess I shouldn't try to help you overcome it, just let you hang yourself because well, you were too weak to overcome.....same thing!

And coming from that lifestyle, I promise there was nothing but promiscuity and yuck in there too. The world will not even go on if so many continue to "become" or allow themselves to fall sin to this lifestyle. Humans will die out. How very ignorant for you to blame the worldly problems on heterosexuality....WOW! Divorce is something I am against except in rare cases and yea, everyone believes they have the rare case so who really even knows. Whats more damaging to the 'family' than not even having a family??? 2 penis' cant make a baby honey!!

Hi there,

I'd be interested in reading what you have to say about changing from the homosexual lifestyle into a heterosexual one. I think that could be very compelling reading and you may have a perspective that few have. Peace, girl.

I would be interested in your insight as well. You really do have a perspective a lot of people don't have.

I do think people are born gay, so I would be interested to her what you have to say.

I love your blog :)Your kiddos are cutey pies.

An instance of experimentation does not a gay make. Unless you have been attracted solely to women your whole life and only married a man because you felt your sexual orientation was sinful, I don't think you have the full perspective.

I look at gay marriage the same way I do second marriage when one's first spouse is still alive. Both are equally condemned in the bible- in fact second marriage more so because it falls under the category of adultery- so one of the big ten. I understand why second marriage was condemned in biblical times, but I truly don't believe that god would punish people for eternity for one mistake, or for something beyond their control. Our commandment to love one another surely trumps the option to condemn them for this.

Perhaps in an ideal world all couples would have civil unions for government recognition of their union... and the word 'marriage' would remain solely in the church's domain, but we don't have the luxury of worrying about semantics and I think we need to be content with talking about 'civil marriage' and 'religious marriage' instead.

God does not say being gay is wrong, just homosexual intercourse.

Also, He also says it is not our place to judge.

I am a Roman Catholic and I am all for the law.

“And though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory.” (1 Peter 1:8) This is not the kind of rejoicing that Paul is talking about when he teaches us that love “does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth.” (1 Corinthians 13:6)

For by what he saw and heard that righteous man, while living among them, felt his righteous soul tormented day after day by their lawless deeds.” (2 Peter 2:8)

Love cares enough to confront sin, even to “expose them.” (Ephesians 5:11)

In love, we can expose unrighteousness and lead people to truth. I am very sorry you were misled, as God makes it very clear we are stand against this!
