We're Home

And we have great news! Kenna does NOT have Diabetes Insipidus. There are still a few tests out that can take a few weeks to come back and those are to see why she is so thirsty that she would even want to consume 90+ ounces a day. For now, they said basically the lab work is all bad from her flushing her body too much and having too much protein in her milk so we were told no more than 20 ounces a day of milk(and nursies whenever of course) and water only. Last night went way better than expected, she only drank 9 ounces of water vs her normal 4 bottles of milk. She did nurse once as well, but not for long so I think she may just have a severe milk addiction lol. I hope thats all it is. 7 more days til baby gets here and thats one thing we can knock off the list of things to worry about now thats great news.

Joshua went through a time (when we was 18 months - 2 years old) when he was very thirsty and drank a lot. He had/has abnormally high blood sugar levels so we worried about Diabetes (so far, it looks like that's just how he is). Our doctor also tested for diabetes insipidus. Fortunately, everything was normal. They figured that Joshua started drinking a lot as a response to a gluten-free diet, but then it became an unnecessary habit. Eventually, as we weaned him down slowly, he stopped drinking so much. Anyway, I am glad that Kenna is okay. :)

That is great news. I'm so glad it had a good and simple resolution, and I totally understand the milk addiction, I have one myself...

I am so glad she sems to be okay, I was worried because my oldest daughter had siezures from drinking too much water because it unbalanced her electrolytes. Hope all the rest of the tests come back okay! Praise God!

Glad Kenna is ok. My kiddos all seem to go through a mega milk phase. Oddly enough they don't drink it often as older kiddos.

Happy baby delivery

Hello, my son drinks water like a fish, and since you seemed to look into it i was wondering what was considered "too much" as far as water goes. We did get him tested for diabetes (i think-i asked them to, and they took a urine sample, so i am hoping that the message got passed along to actually do the test) and the doc never called us, so, according to them that means he is fine, but i am still worried. seriously, he will drink a 9 oz sippy cup every 20 minutes or half hour if we keep giving it to him. he is 20 months old, and has been doing this for a while now (6 months??). I was thinking maybe since i breastfed for a year maybe it is a comfort thing??? I am just wondering what kind of tests you got done. my ped. said not to worry about it, but you know doctors these days, anything to save them some time and money. plus we've got kaiser, so we are just another number to them, which is frustrating, lol.

anyways, i LOVE your blog, you guys all seem so happy, i want a large family but my husband is hesitant due to the whole financial aspect of having several children. we honestly cant wait to have another, we are ttc right now, and i am going crazy waiting to actually become pregnant.

anyhow, sorry this is so long. thanks for any input you might have. :)

Stephanie, she was drinking 90+ ounces a day so count his ounces. Anything over 50 is considered too much for their age. Hope he is okay.
