Kenna

I noticed Kenna drinking WAY too much over the past few months and then peeing through cloth diapers to an unmanageable degree so we switched to Huggies Supreme. Well, to my astonishment, she wets THROUGH those in 1.5 hours all day long and night too. I decided to track how much she is drinking. I came up with an average of 80+ ounces a day ON TOP of nursing(not sure how many ounces) so I called the dr just to check and they had me bring her in for a check up. Unfortunately the check up revealed some scary information, her BUN levels were too high, her urine is spilling protein and not concentrating properly and a few other labs came back not so hot. They are now planning to admit her Sunday or Monday to the childrens hospital for 48 hours to diagnose her. He believes she likely has Diabetes insipidus. I did have Gestational Diabetes during her pregnancy so we suspect this is what she has, but in either case, it must be diagnosed quickly so she doesnt end up in an emergency situation. I appreciate everyones thoughts and concerns. We are hoping somehow its nothing, but either way, just getting diagnosed it important. We just hope to know what it is and get it under control before the arrival of Madelynn. Just wanted to update you all. Thanks:)

OH NO! Thoughs and prayers for a swift medical diagnoses and proper care. I have no doubt this was NOT on your list of pre-baby To-Do's.

Oh my goodness, sweet little Miss Kenna. My Mum has Diabetes insipidus, she has had it for a few years now. She is on pills for it. It is different from diabetes. I will be thinking of your little princess and hope things get sorted out quickly, keep us posted.

I hope she gets diagnosed quickly and the Drs. are inpired to know what it is and how to treat it. What a stressful time. I hope that you and your DH don't get to stressed out.

What a great mom you are to key in on things so early. A friend of mine just had to rush her 5yr old to the Dr and she was in a diabetic shock because her sugar was SO high. It was a very sudden onset but quickly treated and she is doing great now! Hope you get a dx and she gets better soon!

I am new to your blog, got here through Heidi's blog. I've spent a little time reading and will be praying for Kenna and the arrival of Maddy.

FYI - saw you're struggling a bit with understanding the history of the LDS Church and whether it's truth or not. Check out these videos:
The Bible vs The Book of Mormon
and
DNA vs The Book of Mormon

You can find them at Living Hope Ministries: www.lhvm.org

you can watch the videos for free on those websites (just let them buffer first!)

Lord, I ask that You would give the doctor's wisdom and insight into what is happening with Kenna. May the news today be good, and this situation resolved so Kenna can go hope and return to full health. Amen!
